Orcinus Orca by me, Leonardo Santamaria, 30”x48” mixed media
This is my visualization of the collaborative album Mount Wittenberg Orca by The Dirty Projectors & Bjork.  The figure is a personification of a majestic mother whale and what she wields on her chest is my interpretation of the Sharing Orb described in track 5 of the album.

This was the only painting that got accepted into the county fair which is fairly surprising considering the religious symbolism and undertones that are contrasted by the fair woman exhibiting major cleavage.  Orange County is a rather conservative region too.

Oil and acrylic on canvas; 2’ x 3’ by me, Leonardo Santamaria
This is an observation on the human aesthetic and it’s relationship with light and shadow as the body moves in motion. The abstraction of the two figures and its lack of a defined silhouette is my interpretation of movement in a strobe-light setting as inspired by concerts where shadows encompass the stage only to be interrupted by bursts of light.

Mmm this one was rejected from the county fair; too contemporary I guess.  Was my best of the 3 and the one I actually wanted to make it as well haha.
